Your dungeon will never be the same! Hammer of Thor!

The long wait for Heroclix fans is over at last - the new set, Hammer of Thor, is on the shelves at your friendly neighbourhood Curious Comics! So far, this powerful new set has wowed pretty much everyone; great sculpts, nicely painted minis, and a wide array of powerful characters make this one a winner.

And now that Heroclix is back in production, that means tournaments are back as well! Swing by Curious Comics Hillside on Saturdays at 12 Noon and jump in on the game. Rare collectible Limited Edition Heroclix figures are up for grabs for both the top player and the Fellowship player! Ask a staff member for more info.

Bring It!

One of the more inventive aspects of the official Organized Play Program for the Warlord CCG has always been the Overlord Challenge program. At the end of certain sanctioned tournaments, players have the chance to face off against a powerful Overlord deck... if a player wins against the Overlord, it's his to keep! But if the Overlord wins, the next player in line gets a shot - and the deck makes its way through the players at the event until the Overlord defeats everyone, or someone defeats the Overlord.

Produced toward the end of the Warlord CCG's lifespan at AEG and never unleashed on players in a challenge format, Overlord Helena Dascum was one of the harder-to-find Overlord characters in the game... until now that is! Starting Friday November 20 and continuing every Friday night until the end of the year, Helena will be answering challenges at Curious Comics Hillside! Come in, play a few games, and test your mettle against Helena... you never know, you might walk away with your own copy of the Overlord!

The New Face of Reaper's Warlord

The folks at Reaper Miniatures have not allowed the grass to grow under their collective feet in the months since the release of the 2nd Edition of their fast-paced skirmish game, Warlord... instead, they have drafted their most talented sculptors to put a new face on the game with a steady stream of impressive new figures for all factions. But you don't have to take my word for it; check 'em out for yourself! Michael Moorcock to write Dr Who!

Legendary fantasy novelist Michael Moorcock - author of hundreds of best-selling and genre-defining novels, among them Elric of Melnibone, the Chronicles of Corum, the Hawkmoon books, and many many more - seems set to write an original novel for the new Dr Who franchise.


In a post on his website, Mr Moorcock describes his longtime interest in the Who series, the many times he's been approached to write for the show, and why it worked out this time around. Interestingly, he also mentions his awareness of the Who series adopting many of the basic concepts of his novels, and how consequently writing for Who will not be much of a stretch.

As Mr Moorcock is one of my favourite writers, the news that he's set to inject a little of his particular brand of relentless originality into the Who-niverse is very welcome... but as the book is scheduled for release in December of 2010, we've got something of a wait on our hands. In the meantime, check out any of Mr Moorcock's recently re-released Elric of Melnibone collections, and/or the considerable library of Dr Who novels from BBC Books... all conveniently available at your friendly neighbourhood Curious Comics!
