12 Days of Christmas: Day 11!

Stressed out by Christmas shopping? Worried that you might not be able to find that one great gift on your favourite gamer or comic book fan's Wish List? No problem -- Curious Comics is here to make things easy for you! Over the weeks leading up to Christmas, we'll come up with a few suggestions on what presents we think would be great to wake up to on Christmas morning.

On the 11th Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

Reaper Miniatures Learn to Paint Kits!

Reaper Miniatures is the number one source for generic fantasy gaming miniatures in the industry today, providing the RPG and wargaming community at large with high-quality dramatic sculpts at very competitive prices for years. Already famous for their ability to deliver an appropriate mini for any occasion out of their line of Dark Heaven Legends fantasy figures, Reaper has staked out a claim to the giant mech combat audience with their C.A.V. series while at the same time pushing the envelope and looking for more dramatic characters to lead the armies in their Warlord Miniatures Game. Joining these three best-selling brands over the last year, we've seen the first of the Legendary Encounters line (featuring prepainted, non-collectible plastic gaming miniatures at an affordable price), the mold-breaking Chronoscope line (bringing you minis from all sorts of genres including sci-fi, western, horror, historical and the just plain bizarre), and the first two waves of the Reich of the Dead series (featuring the Allies vs. zombie Nazis in World War II -- and do I really need to say more than that?).

All the same, the miniature painting side of the gaming hobby can be more than a little daunting. Where to start? Do I really need primer? How do I make my character's face look less like a featureless blob of pink Play-Doh? Well, don't worry -- Reaper's here for you. Just jump in with any one of their four Learn to Paint Kits, and you'll be painting like you mean it in no time. Each kit contains minis, paint, brushes, and detailed intructions on how to get a satisfying professional finish out of the thing -- from Armour and Fur to Skin Tones, they've got what you're looking for. There's even a Non-Metallic Metals Kit for the more experienced painter who wants to move up tot he next level and try something more challenging.

This Christmas, take some time out, grab a Learn to Paint Kit, get your iPod going on a good playlist and sit down to produce some unique works of art. You'll be the envy of your gaming group the next time you play!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 10!

On the 10th Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

Carcassonne!

The southern French city of Carcassonne is famous for its unique Roman and Medieval fortifications... but this city wasn't built in a day, and it certainly didn't build itself! In this award-winning boardgame, players complete to develop the area around Carcassonne -- deploying their followers on the roads, in the cities, in the cloisters, and in the fields. Sounds simple, right? We're just getting started!

Carcassonne is one of the best-loved boardgames of the last few years, and once you sit down to play it isn't hard to see why. Easy enough for the casual gamer to get a grip on the gameplay in just a few rounds while still complex enough to keep the hard-boiled gamer returning to the table again and again, Carcassonne and its expansions have acheived a rare balancing act in the gaming industry and manage to reach all kinds of fans across the game-playing spectrum.

Once you get the hang of the basic Carcassonne, you can augment the game with one or many of its various expansions -- titles like Inns & Cathedrals, King & Scout, The Princess & The Dragon, The Count of Carcassonne, Abbey & Mayor, Traders & Builders, The Tower, The River II, and either of the brand-new additions to this impressive line-up, Carcassonne: The Catapult and Cult, Siege, and Creativity! . Alternatively, players can take the basic concepts of Carcassonne into new territories with fresh stand-alone games in the family, tackling New World, The Castle, Hunters & Gatherers, or even the slimmed-down Carcassonne Travel Edition.

The perfect antidote to Christmas shopping fatigue! Kick back with your egg-nog, turn Bing Crosby down low on the stereo, and treat yourself to a little escape to Medieval France -- you'll be glad you did!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 9!

On the 9th Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

WATCHMEN!

It all begins with the paranoid delusions of a half-insane hero called Rorschach. But is Rorschach really insane or has he in fact uncovered a plot to murder super-heroes and, even worse, millions of innocent civilians? On the run from the law, Rorschach reunites with his former teammates in a desperate attempt to save the world and their lives, but what they uncover will shock them to their very core and change the face of the planet!

There has never been a better time to discover one of the best graphic novels ever written! As the soon-to-be blockbuster movie approaches theatres, everyone is reading or re-reading Alan Moore's Watchmen. And why not? It was the only graphic novel included in TIME Magazine's list of Best Novels of the 20th Century -- there must be something good about it!

Available in a standard softcover edition, a limited run hardcover edition, an alternate cover international edition, a re-released facsimile edition of the original issue #1, and a very limited Absolute Edition packed with never-before-seen production goodies, this is the Watchmen fan's ultimate Christmas! There's even something for the fan who thinks he has it all -- in a new hardcover book on the making of the classic series, Watching the Watchmen, artist Dave Gibbons gives you his own account of the genesis of the project, opening his vast personal archives to reveal excised pages, original character designs, page thumbnails, sketches and much more.

12 Days of Christmas: Day 8!

On the 8th Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

Bone Graphic Novels!

One of the few genuine independent comic book publishing success stories, Bone has acheived its amazing best-seller status and earned fans right across the spectrum with its own peculiar mix of Walt Disney and Lord of the Rings. Over the years, Bone has rolled through several print formats including traditional black and white pamplet-style comic books, black and white graphic novel collections, multiple printings of a huge oversized omnibus edition, and finally -- after a deal with Scholastic that must have been the envy of the indie industry -- an affordable, remastered, full-colour series of editions.

Chronicling the adventures of the three Bone cousins, Gran'Ma Ben and her granddaughter Thorn as they face down rat creatures, Rock Jaw, a Red Dragon and host of other bizarre creatures including the fearsome Lord of the Locusts, Bone is one of the few books that genuinely manages to appeal to all sorts of readers from 5 to 95. If you've already read Bone, then you know what I'm talking about here. If you haven't tried it, then pick up a copy for your own stocking while you're checking friends and family off your list -- it'll be just the thing to help smooth out post-shopping season stress once we're into Boxing Week.

12 Days of Christmas: Day 7!

On the 6th Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

Pegasus Hobbies Gaming Terrain!

Any gamer could tell you that the one thing he or she really lacks in the pursuit of their hobby is time... time to paint, plan and set up for their games the way they would really like. And while you might not be able to give the miniatures gamer on your Christmas List an extra dozen hours to spend fine-tuning a goblin army, you can help save them some time by grabbing a couple of the impressive model terrain kits from the brainboxes at Pegasus Hobbies.

Pegasus offers an affordable terrain kit for any gaming event -- whether the destination game is fantasy, science fiction or based in modern day, Pegasus has something appropriate waiting in their catalogue. Many kits like the Wizard's Tower and the Village Cottage come pre-assembled and pre-painted, ready to hit the gaming table straight out of the box saving your lucky gamer even more time!

Kind of like Santa's Elves made them personally, isn't it?

12 Days of Christmas: Day 6!

On the 6th Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries!

Getting a bit tired of playing Scrabble or cribbage with your friends and family every Christmas? Looking for something that will shake things up a little but that's still easy to learn and fun for anyone to play? Then you're in luck -- those busy little workshop elves you've been hearing so much about lately have crafted a snowy little gem and let the good little boys and girls at Days of Wonder in on the secret.

Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries takes you on a wintry adventure through Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden as you travel to the great northern cities of Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki and Stockholm. Visit Norway's beautiful fjords and the magnificent mountain scenery on the Rauma Railway. Breathe in the salt air of the busy Swedish ports on the Baltic Sea. Ride through the Danish countryside where Vikings once walked. Hop on the Finnish railway and travel across the Arctic Circle to the land of the Midnight Sun.

Now doesn't that sound like a nice way to spend Christmas?

12 Days of Christmas: Day Five!

On the 5th Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

10 Days In Europe!

This Christmas, give your friends and family 10 Days in Europe -- without going bankrupt! This terrific boardgame challenges players to chart a course across modern Europe using as many destination and transportation tiles as there are cities and countries on the Continent and ways to get there. With a little luck and some clever planning, you just might be able to complete your customized chain of cities before your fellow travelers... but be fast! This game comes into its own in a mad rush for the finish line, and anything can happen along the way! Except, maybe, losing your luggage.

12 Days of Christmas: Day Four!

Stressed out by Christmas shopping? Worried that you might not be able to find that one great gift on your favourite pop culture fan's Wish List? No problem -- Curious Comics is here to make things easy for you! Over the weeks leading up to Christmas, we're happy to offer up a few suggestions on what presents we think would be great to wake up to on Christmas morning.

On the 4th Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

Anime DVD Box Sets!

These aren't your granddaddy's giant robots! Anime and manga -- that's Japanese animation and comics, for the uninitiated out there -- have long since blown away the perception that cartoons are just for kids. These days, there's an anime series or graphic novel adaptation to suit everyone's tastes -- delivering the goods to fans of everything from sci-fi to comedy, horror to romance. Here are a few great titles from the Curious Comics library that are bound to please the anime fan on your list!

Fruits Basket
Schoolgirl Tohru Honda stumbles into what could be the strangest and longest-running family feud in history when she meets the Sohma family. The entire household has been magically cursed, condemning them all to transform into animals of the Chinese Zodiac at the most inconvenient times! The Sohmas have managed to keep their bizarre family secret private for generations, but now that Tohru's in on it, everything is going to change!

Ranma 1/2
One of the most successful anime series of all time returns to DVD format with an all-new series of collections, bringing you the madness of the Anything Goes Martial Arts Dojo one complete season at a time! An accident at a cursed Chinese training ground leaves teenaged male karate trainee Ranma cursed to change into a girl whenever he is splashed with cold water! Misunderstandings, confusion and laughter reign across seven seasons of this groundbreaking sit-com anime series.

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Easily the most inventive anime series of the year, Haruhi Suzumiya has already recruited a legion of loyal fans from every corner of the globe... and you're next! New girl in school Haruhi confuses her entire class when she casually dismisses them all, claiming she is only interested in talking to espers and time travelers. The crazy thing is, she has very good reason for behaving as she does -- as her reluctant new friend Kyon quickly discovers as he is pulled into the madness that is the life of Haruhi Suzumiya!

Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu!
Sousuke and Kaname find the slapstick humour in high-yield explosives, as the somber soldier and his unwitting target brave everything from lovesick terrorists to a lunatic teacher consumed by thoughts of revenge. An all-time fan favourite, Fumoffu is guaranteed to get a laugh out of any Scrooge or Grinch sooner or later.

Bubbglegum Crisis 2040
In the year 2040, the Knight Sabers -- a small band of female mercenaries armed with experimental Hard Suit technology -- are all that stand between Tokyo and the plans of Genom, a ruthless megacorporation scheming to remake the world. The classic cyberpunk action series is once again available to audiences, in the nick of time for Christmas shoppers!

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Platinum Holiday Edition
At the turn of the century the monstrous Angels came to Earth, nearly wiping out humanity in an apocalyptic fury. Fifteen years later, they have returned; but this time, mankind is ready to fight back with their own terrifying bio-mechanical weapons known as the EVAs. Out of print for some time, this deluxe re-issue of the Platinum Edition Box Set is available just in time to make it onto your Christmas shopping list!

Chrono Crusade: Christmas Edition
Who put demon rum in the egg nog? Well, that ain't Santa coming through the fireplace! What's going on here? It's 1928 -- jazz is hot, bootleg liquor is king and the idle rich of a nation have discovered a horrifying new past time: summoning demons! Just in time for the holidays, this is a limited special edition of the fan favourite anime series Chrono Crusade!

Of course, this is just a tiny sampling of the titles we have on offer. Come by your local Curious Comics and ask our staff for suggestions on what would be best for the anime fan on your shopping list -- we'll be glad to help!

12 Days of Christmas: Day Three!

Stressed out? Worried that you might not be able to find that one fantastic Christmas gift for the special gamer or comic book aficionado on your Nice List? No problem -- Curious Comics is here to make things easy for you! Over the next 12 days , we'll post the lowdown on what goodies we think would be great to wake up to on Christmas morning.

On the 3rd Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

Apples to Apples!
Apples to Apples is an award-winning party game that provides instant fun for up to ten players -- just open the box, deal the cards, and you're ready to play! Select the card from your hand that you think best matches a card played by the judge -- but be fast, because the last player to slap down a card is out for this round. If the judge picks your card -- because yours was the funniest, or the most accurate, or whatever -- you win that round and a new player at the table is the judge for the next round.

Each round is filled with funny matches and mismatches from a wide range of people, places, things and events. Fast-moving, easy to learn, good for players of all ages and a great change from the same old party games you've been playing year after year, Apples to Apples is the perfect game to keep you and your friends and family entertained this Christmas!

12 Days of Christmas: Day Two!

On the 2nd Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

Batman Graphic Novels!

With The Dark Knight already charging into stockings everywhere this Christmas, you might be of a mind to try a little merchandising tie-in of your own and dig up a gift or two from the impressive array of Batman graphic novels on the shelves at your local Curious Comics. For the fan of the hard-core modern movie Batman and his impressively psychotic enemies, allow us to recommend...

Joker, by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo; The Killing Joke, by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland; The Man Who Laughs, by Ed Brubaker and Doug Mankhe.

All three of these books feature the deranged Clown Prince of Crime as we have come to know and loathe him over the last year -- mad, bad, and very dangerous to know. For readers who particularly enjoyed Heath Ledger's portrayal of the messed-up menace, Azzarello's controversial Joker effectively blurs the line between comic book villain and big screen lunatic.

Still, for all of the financial and critical success the Batman movie franchise has earned in 2008, there are still many readers who want the classic Dark Knight Detective they remember from way-back-when. For the old-school Batman fan out there, look out for gems like:

Batman Chronicles Volume One, by Bob Kane; Showcase Presents: Batman Volume One, by Various; Batman & Superman: Saga of the Super Sons, by Bob Haney.

And we know there are plenty of hard-to-please Batman fans out there as well -- the ones who know exactly which grandfather clock in Wayne Manor leads into the Batcave, where Dick Grayson got the original Robin costume in the first place, and even how the heck Batman got that Tyrannosaurus Rex into the Trophy Room by himself without anyone noticing. For these jaded been-there read-that Batman fans, try throwing them a curveball with one or two of these very unusual Batman stories:

Batman: Year 100 by Paul Pope; Batman: Black and White, by Various; Batman: Vampire, by Doug Moench and Kelley Jones.

Of course, this is just the smallest sampling of potential Batman-related gifts for that special Bat-Fan on your Christmas shopping list. Next time you're in the shop, ask a friendly Curious Comics staff member for a few more ideas along these lines -- I guarantee we've got plenty more where these came from!

Bettie Page Passes Away

I'm sorry to learn that Bettie Page, icon of the naughty side of the 1950s glamour industry, passed away yesterday at the age of 85. She had been hospitalized after she suffered a heart attack on December 6.

In the course of her relatively short career as a pin-up sex kitten, Ms Page inspired a legion of loyal followers that drove a cult industry devoted to her... a fanbase that spent years actively building up whole libraries of collectibles including DVD re-releases, biopics, calendars, CDs, knick-knacks and perennially reprinted books.

She was also the playful bondage-flavoured inspiration for any number of artists, including Dave Stevens, Jim Silke, Shane Glines, and famous painter Olivia to mention a few. Silke in particular has featured her in more than one of his projects, casting her as the heroine in cheeky comic book adventures as well as offering up a biography in the form of Dark Horse's Bettie Page Rules!

Though she retired in the late 50s and spent decades out of the spotlight, Ms Page remained the object of fond adoration, emulation and admiration around the world. A true icon of pop culture and beyond, instantly recognizable even to those who don't know her remarkable story, many millions of her fans will mourn her passing.

*It ought to go without saying that, considering the links in this post all refer to fetish queen Bettie Page, they may lead the casual clicker to images intended for mature audiences. Surfer discretion is advised.

Reaper Painting Contest Winner

OK, so I'm a little late uploading the pictures of our winning miniatures from our recent Reaper Minis Hallowe'en Painting Contest... it's a long story involving a digital camera, lost USB connections, found USB connections, a lost digital camera, and, ultimately, a borrowed digital camera along with its companion USB connections. Thanks again, Jason.

Hopefully my pitiful amateur photography will not get in the way of the awesome paintjobs on these minis. Here's the winning entry, painted by the obviously talented Todd Glawson...

Todd selectively combined a Reaper Warlord Reven Orc Berserker with parts from the Reaper Jack O'Lantern & Pumpkin Set to produce this creepy dude. Great job, Todd! He claimed our top prize of a set of Reaper's three Classic Monsters, Count Dracula, the Wolfman and Frankenstein's Monster.

And here's a quick look at a few other entries randomly selected from our pool of local painting talent...

Not too shabby, eh? Thanks to everyone who entered! And keep those paintbrushes flying... we are now accepting entries for the Curious Comics / Reaper Miniatures Christmas Painting Contest at Curious Hillside!!

Yavol, Mein Zombie-Commandant!

The first wave of miniatures in Reaper's new Reich of the Dead line have hit the shelves! Consisting of six different types of Zombie Nazis (a.k.a. Kroids), next week's game shipment ought to see reinforcements in the form of half a dozen styles of U.S. Army troops.

Though a finalized set of rules still seems some way off, you can keep on eye on the Reich of the Dead section of the Reaper Forum as things develop. There's probably even still time to contribute suggestions if you have any brilliant ideas you want to throw out there!

It's Just A Game, Kids... and, um, Everyone Else

In what is easily the weirdest story I've heard today, Yahoo News tells us of a Japanese woman -- recently divorced and I guess feeling a little snarky about it -- who hacked into her ex-husband's Maplestory account and deliberately deleted his character... which would make it Maplestory's first virtual murder case, I suppose.

In her defense, she spoke about just being so frustrated after her husband suddenly divorced her that she lashed out and squished his sprite. She has been arrested, but according to the article she has not yet been charged with hacking and/or vandalism (or whatever criminal charge they figure applies here).

Personally, as end-of-relationship revenge goes, I think it's a pretty good one -- funny, personal and ultimately pretty harmless. I've had plenty worse done to me and not gone to the police to get the girl arrested -- which kind of makes me wonder what kind of weasel her ex-husband really is, anyway. But then I remember -- he was playing Maplestory!! That's probably all I need to know right there. Go to an izakaya, have a few beers, sing some karaoke and you'll discover you can get over this kind of thing pretty quickly, buddy. I mean, what's next -- my ex kidnapped my Tamagotchi?

Hey... where is my Tamagotchi, anyway...?

New Games @ Curious Comics

MONSTERPOCALYPSE STARTERS & BOOSTERS
Prepare yourself for Monsterpocalypse, a fast-moving, action-packed strategy game played with high-quality collectible miniatures portraying the most fearsome giant monsters on Earth! Each battle takes place in a city that you and your opponent construct by placing buildings on a city map. Players choose their forces from their respective collections of figures and then battle one another with giant monsters and supporting units such as tanks, flying vehicles, and all manner of creatures. Charge your monster into the city to fight for supremacy, and be the last monster standing!

CARCASSONNE: NEW WORLD BOARDGAME
In this Carcassonne game, players begin as the early settlers of the United States did on the east coast of America. As they explore westward, they build towns, farms, paths, and compete to score more points than the others players. As exploration moves to the west, players who are slow to complete the features they have started will find themselves left behind - with no points!

WARHAMMER 40K RPG: DARK HERESY GM'S KIT
The essential GMs reference, featuring a GM screen, a complete adventure and more! This lavish Games Master’s screen is just what every GM needs to help keep their Inquisitorial secrets safe. Behind the sturdy screen the GM can hide dice rolls and keep players from reading his notes. Printed on the GMs side are numerous handy quick reference charts that make running the game that much easier. Added to this is a 32 page booklet with a full adventure, xenos generator and new rules for poisons and toxins!

CHANGELING RPG: NIGHT HORRORS - GRIM FEARS
Seductive lover and cannibal hag. Jealous queen and murderous bogeyman. The creatures out of fairy tales are immortal, born anew in each generation’s stories. Watch carefully over your children, and keep iron handy — for these childhood fears are all too real.

4TH EDITION GSL: ADVANCED PLAYER'S GUIDE
This new supplement, released under the GSL and fully compatible with 4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons products, features 112 pages packed with 3 new races, 5 new classes, 20 new paragon paths, 17 new feats, 7 new rituals, and optional rules concerning crafting items and wounds.

...and coming to Curious Comics on Tuesday October 21:

First Reads of the Week!

STAR WARS: CLONE WARS #2
Anakin Skywalker and his new padawan learner Ahsoka Tano travel with Obi-Wan Kenobi to the Zygerrian System, intent on tracking down the slavers who frequent the area and finding out what happened to the thousands of Togrutans who went missing from the colony world of Kiros. The clock is ticking however, as Count Dooku begins spreading rumours that the Jedi themselves wiped out the populace, and the likelihood of finding anyone from Kiros begins to fade...

Henry Gilroy, one of the staff writers from Lucasfilm's hit new computer-animated TV series The Clone Wars, signs on with Dark Horse to help chart the long years of war that stretch between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. If you're not already a fan of Star Wars, this four-issue series might not be enough to change your mind -- but if you think the show airing weekly on the Cartoon Network is must-see TV, then this comic is just the thing to help you fill up the seven-day lag between episodes.

Check out a free online preview at Dark Horse's website, right here!

STAR TREK: THE HOLLOW CROWN #2
Writer/artist John Byrne continues to explore the unseen corners of the original Star Trek series with The Hollow Crown, his third trip to Gene Roddenberry's famous sci-fi universe. As the crew of the Enterprise continue their famous five-year mission, here we see more of the hidden machinations of the Romulan and Klingon Empires -- their secret pacts, their shadowy agreements... and how it all went sour, dragging both empires into conflict.

This series, like Byrne's Assignment Earth before it, has been a real treat for comics fans and Trek fans alike. Each issue is packed with material, making the best use of every page -- and in an era of seemingly endlessly decompressed multi-part meandering storylines, Byrne's punchy, direct approach has made for a welcome change of pace. His respect for the original Star Trek series comes through here in spades -- particularly noticeable as he makes the choice to ignore some of the weirder elements of the Romulan Empire tacked on in the later years of the ailing TV franchise in favour of the more elegant "Roman Empire in space" concept cooked up in the 1960s. Next up for Byrne and Trek will be his Crew miniseries... can't wait!

RASL #3
Our dimension-hopping art thief protaganist tracks Annie's killer back to the parallel world he just left... where we get a glimpse of Rasl's strange past and bump into an alternate version of a woman he once loved a lifetime ago. But before he can get too comfortable, the snake-faced murderer reappears -- intent on killing this world's Annie!

Bone creator Jeff Smith continues to wow me with this out-of-left-field adult sci-fi adventure that comes packed with so many twists and turns I literally have no idea what might be coming on the next page. And when was the last time you could say that about any comic?

Wall Street Crashes; Invest in Comic Books!

As the ongoing bloodbath on Wall Street continues to wipe ludicrous amounts of money out of existence and prompts many Amercian billionaires to consider pawning their 24K gold toilet seats and skipping the poodle's next pedicure appointment -- savvy business analysts are trying to think outside the box, attempting to avoid being crushed flat by this staggering, savagely wounded market's next lurch. While the Dow Jones, TSX, FTSE, Hang Seng and other global markets are pummeled by a nasty team-up of hope & despair, panic & profit-taking, rallies & crashes -- it's left up to this commentator to wonder... how long before the weary investor looks to other fields in search of sane and stable investments? And when he does... why not go with comic books?

Consider the potential! For instance, there are a finite number of Amazing Fantasy #15s out there -- there could be no conveiveable problems with faulty government fiscal policy helping to inflate price bubbles while simultaneously flooding the marketplace with new ones built on heavy subsidies, cheap labour and undeserved credit. Go with comic books and there would be nothing like the trouble you've been having trying to apply a real-world value to the interconnected contracts tied up with your opaque hedge fund investments -- just a quick look for yellowed pages, torn-out ads, folded corners and dings on the spine and you'd know where you stand. Forget about cheap commercial paper -- keep an eye out for DC Comics' array of late 80s/early 90s titles printed on crisp, heavy Baxter paper. The illustrations practically jump off the page... which has got to be better than jumping off the upper mezzanine of the NYSE and onto the unforgiving trading floor below, right?

So, um... with all that in mind... anybody want to buy fifty copies of Rob Liefeld's X-Force #1 off me?

Reaper Miniatures Hallowe'en Painting Contest!

It might seem to be a little early to start thinking about vampires and werewolves, witches and creepy-crawlies, but here's a little something to consider as October looms up on your calendar and Hallowe'en rears its three-eyed pointy-eared head in the near distance... cue the sinister music, please!

Curious Comics and Reaper Miniatures are challenging all you minis painters out there to dig up your favourite spooky Reaper Mini, paint it as best as you are able, and bring it to Curious Comics Hillside where we will host anonymous voting to select the most spine-chilling would-be boogieman of the bunch. The painter responsible for the macabre masterpiece will claim a bunch of awesome Reaper Minis!

Deadline for entries is Wednesday October 29; winner will be announced on Friday October 31. Stay tuned for more info!
