When Jin Mikuriya decided to use a limb from a sacred tree to carve a statue of the local shrine deity for his school art project, the last thing he was expecting was a convergence of magic and fate to bring his statue to life... but this being an anime series, of course that's exactly what happened! Now he's stuck with Nagi -- the crazy, unpredictable, conceited and unworldly manifestation of the local Shrine Goddess -- living in his tiny little house, driving him up the wall as she tries to rid the land of malevolent impurities and increase her power through (what else?) becoming a pop star! All this plus balancing his relationships with his friends in art class, his longtime best friend -- who may be developing a crush on him -- and the deranged machinations of... Nagi's sister?
The nice folks at Anime News Network have added Eri Takenashi's Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens to the considerable menu of anime series available on their fast, easy and legal online viewing service. Now you can watch one of the breakout hit anime series of 2009, without leaving the comfort of your cozy computing environment. Sounds good, doesn't it? Just follow the link to the first episode and prepare to write off the next twenty minutes -- you won't regret it!
