First Read of the Week!

Kevin Smith's Green Hornet #1

Dynamite Entertainment's launch of the new Green Hornet franchise begins here! It's been years since the costumed crimefighter known as the Green Hornet - together with his sidekick Kato - spent his nights breaking organized crime rings in his home town of Century City. Eventually satisfied with his career as a vigilante, newspaper magnate Britt Reid hung up his colourful cape and trademark fedora ages ago... but fast-forward 20 years, and Century City isn't the place it used to be. Is it time for the Green Hornet to return...? And if it is, who will be under the mask?

Illustrated by Dynamite mainstay Kevin Lau and based on the unproduced script for Kevin Smith's feature film version of classic pulp crimefighter The Green Hornet, this miniseries re-introduces audiences to the adventures of one of the most successful superhero characters of the 20th Century. But this is only the first of Dynamite's new family of Green Hornet titles -- keep an eye out for Matt Wagner's take on the vigilante's early adventures in Green Hornet: Year One, as well as the worst the future has to throw at an all-new version of the Hornet in Brett Matthews' The Green Hornet Strikes!

The artwork in this issue was very good, but the story itself left much to be desired.
