Earthsea On The Way!

Good news, anime fans -- after years of controversy, criticism and court cases, Goro Miyazaki's epic animated film Tales From Earthsea is finally set for a limited North American theatrical release. Directed by the son of Japanese film industry legend Hayao Miyazaki and based on the hugely popular books by Ursula K. LeGuin, Tales From Earthsea has already racked up blockbuster hit status with audiences around the world, but has been kept away from North American fans by a conflict of distribution rights -- pitting the animated Earthsea film against a somewhat forgettable 2004 SyFy Channel Earthsea miniseries. But now these issues appear to have been settled, the appropriate hatchets buried and the way cleared for Tales From Earthsea to land on our shores.

Cities and dates for Tales From Earthsea have yet to be announced, and we don't yet know if Victoria made the list... but even if we don't make the cut, a general release on DVD before the end of the year seems guaranteed. Watch this space for more info!
