Satoshi Kon Retrospective

The anime industry lost one of its brightest stars when Satoshi Kon suddenly and unexpectedly passed away this summer. Always unusual in his directorial approach and choice of subject matter, Kon's projects have reliably challenged the perceived limits of the medium and the preconceptions of its fans. Two of his films in particular -- the unique Millennium Actress and the amazing Paprika -- are never very far from my DVD player.

Anime News Network has published a very insightful six-part retrospective on Kon and his films; follow this link to read more about the career of this gifted creator.
